LPL's Big Conference: Focus 2016Submitted by Farrall Wealth on April 12th, 2017
If you were following Twitter the other week you might have seen that our #LPLFocus was trending #2. Pretty cool to see all of the tweets, information and shares at our National Conference that included over 20,000 people. Find more information here: https://visitsandiego.com/
Here is what your Farrall Wealth group did at the "Big Conference."
We learned, listened and were reminded about some very big ideas.
We learned that in the 21st century and hopefully in the next, cheating is over: transparency through technology rewards authenticity and punishes phonies. The Fiduciary Rule is the norm.
We listened to actor Will Smith as he provided the crowd with an intimate look on his life as an actor, a businessman, and a parent. He shared a lesson from his father, who ran an ice business in Philadelphia, which resonated with the crowd: “Fail early, fail often, and fail forward.” Failure is “not bad,” he explained. “Nobody succeeds their way to the top. You fail your way to the top.”
And we were reminded as to the purpose of why we do what we do for our clients. The path to find happiness is in improving the lives of others.
We watched and admired others. And...we had some fun as well.
Follow along with the below tile of pics:
Our Client Care Representative Valerie Rhein was joined by her sister, Vickie (pictured here sitting at Hard Rock Hotel pool) and they had lots of fun. Our Wealth Strategist Josh Kozel came along for the ride as well; basking (or baking) in the San Diego sun. Find the really cool pool here: Hard Rock Hotel Pool
The Conference festivities were kicked off by Gavin DeGraw who killed a great set of songs and entertainment. Find him here: Gavin DeGraw
We were awed by former Navy SEAL, Shannon Rousch, as he told his story of trial and pain during SEAL training but ultimate success by never, ever giving up. He talked about how he could "5 minute" any difficult task. We can all do that right? Ask us about it when you see us but here is his bio: Shannon Rousch
We ran a 5k! Realizing that we are no good to our clients or our family if we are dead, we got out on the LPL sanctioned 5k through the San Diego Harbor and had to stop and take a picture. Beautiful morning! (of course every day is beautiful in San Diego)
We sat in lots of meetings that looked like this. But we learned alot!
We took in a Cubs Game! Who knew that our beloved Chicago Cubs would be in town to beat up on the lowly Padres? What are the odds? (Swept them) Luckily, we were joined by good friend Bob Kime who flew all the way down from Sacramento to join us. Great seeing you, Bob! Petco Park is a great park and many great pictures are included but as a Rotarian, I had to include the Rotary Wheel and Flag Court. Rotary is everywhere doing great things! www.rotary.org
We saw crazy boats like this!
We sat in more conferences like this. This one with UberAdvisor Ron Carson from Carson Wealth.
Randi Zuckerberg, (former Marketing Head of Facebook and sister to Mark) entrepreneur and entertainer, gave a view of the future state of technology. She spoke about living in a “Dot Complicated” world: recognizing that technology can be extremely beneficial, but, at the same time, very unnerving. One of Randi’s most important takeaways was to recognize that if you speak to even ONE person, you are a media company. And she dropped the mike and sang us a song! Paul Begala and Tucker Carlson had fun with political punditry, tackling up-to-the-minute political news. The pair, friends who happen to sit on opposite sides of the political aisle, treated the audience to a light sparring match infused with humor, political opinions, and a bit of “agree to disagree.” One thing they agreed on was that all Americans need to be on the lookout for how to deal with the upcoming political changes. LPL Research chief Burt White widened our minds to the true meaning of potential. We each have an impact on those around us, and those who follow after us. And finally got to see some more good friends, the Fredricksons, and meet some new ones at Balboa Yacht Club in Newport Beach. Thanks to Will, Stephanie and their girls for the hospitality and the cruise up and down the coast.
All in all, it was a great trip. We are thankful for our relationship with LPL Financial who always surprises us with their attention to detail and making such a large event, smaller.
We were thankful to get away from our busy lives for a few days and concentrate on our business away from the office and enjoy our Farrall Wealth group on the West Coast.
And, as we had a chance to reflect, we were reminded how thankful we are for all of our clients and their families. The trust and confidence you instill in us to always do the right thing and lead them towards true wealth is flattering and we are humbled. Thank you all for your business and here is to a great Midwestern Football season this Fall.
